Adults, however, prefer a meal at the Consti Café or to view the town through the hill's Victorian camera obscura, an old relic that is a famed attraction in its own right.
The Vale of Rheidol Railway
The Vale of Rheidol Railway is a famous Aberystwyth visitor attraction. Old steam locomotives have been restored to take passengers on a one-hour scenic ride on the narrow-gauge railway. The line was originally built in 1902 to guide passengers along a twelve mile stretch of the Rheidol River. Riding on the old train is a popular tourist activity that should not be missed in order to see the beautiful scenery of mid-Wales. Why not visit during the spring half term break or during the longer Easter school holiday.
National Library of Wales
Situated roughly a half mile to the east of town is the renowned National Library of Wales. An internationally acclaimed library, this venue is a major town attraction; it contains more than four million printed materials including many rare volumes. Some of its most famed works are the 1554 Yn Y I hyvyr hwnn, works of Geoffrey Chaucer, and the first Welsh translation of the Bible. Its collection of Welsh materials is extensive. Founded in 1911, the building also provides visitors with astounding hilltop views.
