The academic year in Scotland usually begins on the third week of August, this period up until Christmas is known as Autumn Term. In October, there are two weeks off, which is known as October Half Term Break. The Christmas holiday usually begins a few days before December 25th and ends a few days after January 5th.
Following the Christmas break there are between 2 days and a week off half way through this next term (Spring Term) and commonly a two week break for Easter.
After the Easter break it is the Summer Term and there is a 3rd short half term break, usually the half way point to the summer holidays. The summer holidays usually begin towards the end of June, or very early July for most Scottish schools.
Please note that some schools have decided to adopt slightly different term and holiday dates to those shown here and it is therefore advisable to contact the individual school to confirm their dates.
