Half Term Dates For Northern Ireland. NI School Holidays in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

These dates linked to below are when the majority of schools are closed to pupils in Northern Ireland only, for schools in the ROI click here. However, teachers must attend school on five of these dates for training purposes. Schools may also close for School Development Days to give teachers time to work on school improvement matters.

Between 2010/11 and 2014/15 schools will have five Development Days available each year. Schools have discretion to close for up to five optional days. Optional days are intended to cover closings throughout the year in special circumstances, for example death of a person connected with the school, need to move premises, start of building work, church holy days.

Therefore, optional days are likely to differ from school to school.
