A Quick Guide To UK School Holidays
In England and Wales, the school year generally runs from early September to mid July of the following year. Most schools operate a three term school year, each term divided in half by a holiday commonly known in the UK as the Half Term Break.
Autumn term runs from: Early September to mid December (half term falls in late October). Spring Term runs from: Early January to Easter (half term falls in mid February). Summer Term runs from: Easter to mid July (half term falls in late May or early June).
British school terms are separated by two holidays, each consisting of approximately two weeks. The Christmas holidays separating the autumn term and spring term and the Easter holidays separating the spring term and the summer term.
The British school summer holidays which begin in late July, usually consisting of six weeks mark the end and beginning of the UK school year.
